Anyone Have Tips For Drawing Hands?

I assume that I can post this here?

Anyways, I love drawing and I'm getting the hang of everything but HANDS... UGH! I get so frustrated when I try to draw hands because I can never make them look how I want them too. Doesn't matter if they're posed or straight, open or fisted.. NOPE NO HANDS!

I have a book about drawing and it just basically says "no hard lines, make them soft and curved... etc" BUT AHH! I CAN'T MAKE IT EVEN LOOK REMOTELY LIKE A HAND GEEZ!

Literally I have a drawing that everything is done but the hands, like she's just hand-less because, HANDSSSSS! (Poor Lapis has no hands ;-; )

Any support or tips are appreciated, thanks ~

you might want to start with tracing a picture or your hands. that way u can get the feel of the shape

I can try to help anyways. I used to do art, and a common mistake was rounding them too much. You want to make the fingers pretty straight except at the joints and tips of the fingers. Just focus on not getting sausage fingers. If not, you can always make Power Puff Girls style stub hands.

Firstly, always use a reference for EVERYTHING until you've got the hang of it. For an example, I'll be using this:

Next, divide the hand into basic shapes to help understand the simple structure:

Then draw the same shapes into your image (which, of course, I don't have so pretend this is on someone's arm):

Finally, study the finer details of the hand and draw them around the basic shape. I hope this helps!
